Hi. I'm legally blind. I can still see just have to be very close. I would like to learn piano and want to buy a digital for myself. I'm not sure which one would be best though. I had considered getting one with the light up keys, because reading the digital displays is very difficult for me to do especially the ones that do not have a backlight. After some research though I am thinking that I would prefer a 76-88 key keyboard since I am learning and it seems those are better to learn on. Basically what I want to know is a keyboard you suggest and maybe if you know of any lesson books/types of lessons you think might be better for someone who has trouble with vision. I heard a few years ago about a set of disks that taught you piano pretty much just through sound. Whatever you got would be helpful. Thanks! :)

Also..I'm willing to spend a decent amount of money on a keyboard. I'm serious about learning. Piano lessons are NOT an option though considering the cost in the area I live.

I would like you to reconsider the idea of having lessons. It is so important to have a teacher.

Ask around ; there is always somebody a bit cheaper then the others.

Get a full size (88notes) keyboard with weighted keys. The weighted keys are important as they simulate the feel of a real piano . Don't worry about keys that light up. Many wonderful pianists have learnt to play on just an old upright piano.

Well, I was going to say piano lessons until I read the last part lol, So, Well, I would say visit your nearest music place or whatever and ask the people who work there, because I know There is a music store near us where we live and they really helped and we bought like 5 pianos there cause I do have 11 Bro's ans Sis's and we are all trying to learn piano lol My Brother Bought a Casio Piano 88keys and he paid $750 and It sounds awesome and it comes with a foot pedal and stuff and very small Heavy duty I would say don't get the ones with less keys and one with a foot pedal because they come in handy big time, So, Good luck with Learning =)

If you don't have the capability, ask a family member or friend, to check-out famous "Blind Pianists" on the Internet(their biographies); and study how they learned to play. Hope this helps.
