They are both mind-soothing. Which one do you like better

I'm assuming you mean the first movt of the Moonlight Sonata cos by gosh the 3rd is by no means soothing!

probably the sonata. Fur Elise is just so overplayed and ruined

Both are 'Rites of Passage' for almost every pianist at a certain level, and both are extensively overplayed, and badly, far too often. Because of that, even fine performances get on my nerves, just because the works are each horribly over-exposed.

There should be 'nothing soothing' about any part of the 'moonlight' sonata -- the entire work is unsettled, laden with tension and anything but 'sweet.' That it must be said is due to so many badly rendered versions.

Of course you will play each at some point, it is to be hoped the sonata will not be approached until you can handle and play all three movements well, since that is the actual 'piece,' not just one movement, a fragment of the sonata.

You should choose first that which you can learn most readily and play well, always :-)

Best regards.

I'm no longer ill of it per se, but i'm thoroughly in poor health of folks who say "i really like classical track" and after I ask them what they've heard from the style, they are saying "Moonlight Sonata", "Pachelbel's Canon" or "Fur Elise". Frequently I think like asking them if they even know that there are thousands of different portions in the genre. Now I just pass the piece if i have a choice, considering the fact that it is grossly overplayed and has been slaughtered by using so many poor intepretations. It is a whole exclusive story when I hear a official play it in recital. I wish to see the 2nd and 3rd movements given more credit...Maybe that might take away probably the most boredom and get me to love the entire sonata. Without a doubt, this sonata is lovely suited in my view as compared to Fur Elise. I've under no circumstances been partial to Fur Elise, now not even once I first began learning the piano. In fact, I've nonetheless not learnt it after 14 years of enjoying...And i'm no longer sorry about that. I hear it ample without having to play it myself.

my gosh these are very well written songs, both composed by beethoven- a man who was famous at his time for making and conducting songs, even as he got death. für elise is more of a dance to song, but i would say moonlight sonata, it has more of a romantic flow to it. so my favorite would be moonlight sonata.

Both of them.

Honestly if Beethoven didn't exist the first 2 years you would end up studying Czerny and he wasn't as melodic as Beethoven and a total bore!!

Although, I know and understand that Czerny is very technical lolz.
