Greetings.

So I found I have two Bachs Greatest Hits Cds.

I'm now loading them on my phone. To save space I want to delete the duplicate songs....but one Cd lists the songs titles informally. The other lists the titles formally (BWV titles, etc.)...therefore I'm having trouble matching up the dups.

....HELP !

DISC 1:
01 Preludium in E Major
02 Air on the G String
03 Sleepers Awake
04 Little Suite
05 Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
06 Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
07 A Mighty Fortess is Our God
08 Final Movement of Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major

DISC 2:
01 Toccata and Fugue for organ in D minor, BWV 565
02 Suite for orchestra No 3 in D major, BWV 1068- Air on the G String
03 Chorale prelude for organ ('Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme'), (Schübler No. 1), BWV 645
04 Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major, BWV 1050- Allegro
05 Cantata No. 147, 'Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben,' BWV 147- Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
06 Suite for orchestra No 2 in B minor, BWV 1067- Minuet & Badinerie
07 Cantata No. 208, 'Was mir behagt,' ('Hunting Cantata'), BWV 208- Sheep May Safely Graze
08 Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F major, BWV 1047- Allegro assai
09 Fugue for organ in G minor ('Little'), BWV 578
10 Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major, BWV 1048- Allegro
11 Partita for solo violin No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004- Chaconne

Thanks much !

From Disk 1 you can eliminate 02, 05, and 06. Compare #8 on Disk 1 to #10 on Disk 2 to see if they are the same.

HOWEVER, Listen to the 'duplicates' carefully. They may be different performances and not just redundant copies. In that case you should keep them. In 'classical' music you can have a dozen copies the same piece of music but they are subtlety different.

But the info on the first CD is also on the second for the dups, so you can see that there are two "Air on the G String", two Toccata and Fugue in D minor, two "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring". As for the two Brandenburg no. 3 movements, you'll have to compare them by listening, because both the 1st and 3rd movements are designated Allegro.
