Please Help ASAP.......Hymns for an infant's funeral?

Question

Can someone suggest any hymns that would be appropriate for my baby's funeral. PLEASE. I've looked everywhere in the hymnal and online and I can't find any that I think would work.

I don't want to use 'Jesus Loves Me' since I always think of that being sung by children.

We are members of the Episcopal Church and I've called him 'My little lamb' if that helps. I would appreciate any suggestions you have. I can barely think right now and it's been difficult making these arrangements.

I found this song comforting when a family member died recently. It is from the Spanish "Pues si Vivimos" and has been translated several different ways. The version I know goes:



When we are living, we are in the Lord

and when we're dying, we are in the Lord

Another song that comes to mind when I've lost someone is "Oh God Our Help in Ages Past."



"How Can I Keep From Singing" is a song from the Quaker tradition that I really love that speaks to persevering in spite of everything.

I positioned on black residences, stockings and a knee length loose setting up black dress. A cream colored suited is high quality besides. in many situations you dress dark, i've got been to funerals the place people positioned on different hues. i think of each little thing is high quality as long as its a muted tone. no longer something too flashy the two, merely uncomplicated. And plus, if its a kinfolk funeral probability is you would be having an prolonged day so which you incredibly need to take convenience into attention! (no longer something too tight/itchy/sweaty. So sorry on your loss.

This is a hard one. I don't know if it really matters, not too many people are going to hear the music because of the grief.



Sing songs that are simple. Anything to do with lambs, love, children of god, hope, heaven.....

The "Children's Prayer" from Humperdinks opera "Hansel and Gretal" is a comforting and a softly, beautiful piece appropriate for this sad occasion. The words begin with: "When I close my eyes in sleep, angels round me watch do keep...."

"O for the wings of a dove" from "Hear my Prayer" by Mendelssohn

"Sheep may safely graze" by Bach



These are not "hymns" per se, but the Mendelssohn especially is a sacred choral number. The Bach is from one of his few secular cantatas, but is basically considered "sacred".
