Question:
What musical keys do you think each of your contacts are?
?
2009-06-11 01:01:18 UTC
Ok, maybe not all your contacts, but at least the regulars on this forum. This question was clearly influenced by a question I just answered regarding what key I'm born under...lol. So while we're answering what key we think we ourselves are there, how about what keys we think our contacts are over here? =D

....Somehow I have a feeling that this question has already been asked before. Do tell me if it turns out to be true. I'll remove it.

I'll give some of my own answers a bit later!

I am D Hypodorian Mode.

Hafwen - F Phrygian mode... a very complex kind of mode, which doesnt sound quite sound major or minor. Very intriguing! Just like Hafwen!

Alberich - E minor... I consider E minor one of the happier minor keys. Its just so mysterious though. Alberich thats like you... happy but sometimes you will have a rather cynical comment. Perhaps you should be E maj, but modulate into E min?

Schumiszt - F major - Ok, you are now Gb maj, but my reasonings are for Fmaj. F maj is a happy key, that is simple... but a lot of fun music has been written in F maj. (You are now Gb, because it is such an awesome key... and is only a semitone lower.)

i. jones - D maj - D maj is awesome... simple, but with just enough sharps to never be boring!

Del - C Lydian mode - I am referring to the medieval lydian mode, which is the notes of F maj, but centered around C. (so a major scale with a raised 4th). Why? because Del is totally a major scale, but with the raised 4th he sounds a little evil...

petr b - A Locrian... ok, this is the most depressing mode, but thats not why I picked it. I picked it because everything is flat! (except the tonic of course...) so it is confusing... petr b, you are totally confusing.

Jack Herring - G major.... A very sweet key dont you think? Prim and proper... but interesting.

Kalibasa - A maj - Always fun, and never boring. Some of the most interesting pieces I know were written in A maj, so Kalibasa - you are A maj!

Duchess - G# min - Such a confusing key... and one that makes too much sense. (Ab minor is so much more awesome!) but the dear Duchess is not Ab minor, so she had to be G# min.

You - Eb Maj - A very "nice" key. You are always so nice.... how could you not be the "nice" key?

EDIT:

Fine Schumiszt you can be Gb maj

Ok, here we go:

i. jones- definitely F major. A very polite key, never offensive.

Hafwen- Mixolydian mode. Seems confident and self-assured on the outside but very tender on the inside

Tucomena- G major. A bright and cheerful key.

MissLimLam- G#minor. Complicated. A very beautiful key but a difficult key to think in.

Anya- A major. A friendly and respected key.

Rachel Not Idiot- Dorian mode. Only for the intelligent.

Del- F# minor. A no nonsense key. Powerful.

Mamianka- E major. A tell it like it is key.

papagena- Lydian mode. Raises more questions than answers.

Schumiszt- B major- No key should be this happy all of the time.

Jack Herring- Aeolian mode. This mode is missing a leading tone.

Bearcat- e minor. Pops in to say "Hi" occasionaly.

I apologize to any of my contacts I have not included in the above, but I need to get back to work. On the other hand maybe I should apologize to my contacts I have included.

I'm F major MissLimLam?

That's one of the most boring keys...

I'd much rather be E flat minor, or F sharp minor, or C flat major or D flat minor... My four favorite keys... Hahaha...

MissLimLam, you are much too smart... I don't even have the modes memorized. Hahaha, :)

Well... Lets see...

I Jones: G major, everybody's favorite guy, and one of the most common and favorite key.

Duchess: C minor, very powerful key, but yet very beautiful.

Del: B flat major, not to many keys are like b flat major, dark and powerful, yet still a major key.

mamianka: A sharp minor, is there anybody that is more sharp than mamianka?

Rachel: C major, grand and powerful.

MissLimLam: B major, bright, witty, and innocent.

Mephistopheles: B flat minor, this key is one of the most richest and poetic keys. Meph sure is a poet.

Hafwen: F sharp minor, Dark, rich and colorful, just like hafwen.

Erruno: F major, Certainly a witty key.

Petr b: B minor, complex, harsh in a way, but very clever.

anya: F sharp major, a very bright, very positive, yet surprisingly complex and colorful key.

Kalibasa: D major, a down to earth and vivid key that everybody loves.

suhwahaksaeng:*A major, such an authoritative key. Although its very bright, it's diffidently the most powerful sharp key.

Papagena: E major, they're both very sweet and very kind

I'm sorry if I forgot anybody...

--Schumiszt

Edit: Like Jack did, I'll explain why I assigned the key to each contact...

Please read the following quote from wiki. There are NO resistors in this matrix. Rather, a microcontroller is scanning both rows and columns of the matrix! For example, row#1 contact + column#1 contact = key #1 is depressed. The microcontroller then selects the corresponding oscillator frequency, most likely by sending the appropriate voltage to a voltage-controlled oscillator. "With the matrix circuit, the entire 61-key keyboard can send signals to the integrated circuit with two matrices of eight wires that are conceptually arranged into columns and rows. The electronic or digital keyboard controller scans all of the columns, to determine if a key has been pressed. If a key in the column has been pressed, then the controller scan the rows, to determine which row has been activated. In a manner analogous to the children's board game "Battleship!", the keyboard controller determines which key has been pressed, and then closes the switch for that key's note. This entire process takes place so quickly that the performer is not aware of the delay." ------------- .

You are a C-major, or possibly a G-major. The Eyeores (and they know who they are) are B-flat minors.

Creativity affirms, so it is positive. Doubt is rooted in possibility, so it is negative. What is positive is euphonius, what is negative is dissonant.

Some people are like triads composed by Schoenberg. Some are like the opening chords of a Baroque chamber piece -- maybe Gabrielli trumpet concerti.

Great question. Keep creating. Obviously not an idiot. The world needs more not idiots. Where can I find them? Do you have any sisters?

I also responded to the other similar question you referenced.

And it seems that your first three responders misunderstood your question. What bothers me with this exercise, your question - assignment of keys to our contacts - is that without defining the keys(giving some kind of prose explanation), it seems rather pointless to me.

Example: "MissLimLam" = "Alberich" - E minor: what does that mean? Perhaps that I have sharp, biting, sad or somewhat strange aspects to my personality; what, exactly?

Befuddlely,

Alberich
