Is there a program that composes music for you, while you play the piano?

I can't read piano music, but can play by ear very well. I have been wanting to compose my songs, but it is difficult for me to do.

Get Finale or Sibelius.
I prefer Sibelius, but own Finale, and have used both.
You can plug in a keyboard into the computer (via USB port) and play along with said programs. I have had more luck in the past with Sibelius.

There are programs that will *notate* you music as you play - the best being Finale and Sibelius. However, music is composed in the mind and the ear - not an instrument. That is just writing down your meandering improvisations. Until you learn how to read music - and then a but of music theory, form, etc. - you will not truly have a grasp of musical composition. If you are writing only for yourself - fine. If you wish anyone to respect what you have written, then you need to learn what you can, so you can bring out your best. There may be a few deluded people who maintain that avoiding all education kept them *pure* - but there are far more people who deeply regret not having the opportunity for more instruction. Why would you deny yourself the acquisition of s skill - especially when it is so EASY to learn? www.practicepsot.com in one of many places that can help you learn. You can download Finale NOTEPAD for ten bucks at www.makemusic.com, and start learning to notate - but this level of Finale will NOT allow you MIDI (keyboard-connected) entry. Once you can get around OK, upgrade to a level that will allow this. Until you lern some more skills, this WILL stay difficult for you, and you are holding yourself back. Man up and DO this!

I think if you have a keyboard, you can connect it to a computer and the program Sibelius will work with it. But unfortunately I think you still need to input the duration of notes, but if you play a note on the keyboard it will appear on the score.
