Last night they performed for the first time, at the Carnegie Hall..This orchestra was formed by persons who sent in videos as a way of casting...The selected ones came to New York and last night, April 15th. performed under the general direction of Mr. Michael Tilson Thomas...Here's a video, but you will find more through the second other link.

The YouTube Symphony Orchestra's show features soloists, chamber groups, chamber orchestra, large orchestra, electronica and multi-media, and samples diverse periods and styles of classical music, including works by Gabrieli, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Villa-Lobos, John Cage and Tan Dun’s Internet Symphony No. 1 “Eroica.”

Yup, I knew about it! I'm a *very* regular visitor of YouTube, and Time Magazine had a highly interesting article about it. What a wonderful way to show that classical music is as relevant today as it was when it was written, and to incorporate young people and the internet into it. I sincerely hope it will bust all these horribly myths and stereotypes associated with our beloved genre.
