I'm thinking about buying a nicer clarinet. I have a 7-year old Yamaha 650 Bb clarinet, how much do you reckon I sell that for?

Hi. The last two 650's I sold in my shop went for $575 and $695 respectively. The latter I did a complete overhaul with an inclusive 1 year warranty on my work. It was traded back in two year later for a vintage Selmer Series 9*. Yamaha's unfortunately hold better value in their student and intermediate range than they do in their entry pro and upper echelon horns. The competition is just too stiff up top. In addition, just my observation, Yamaha's from the wood 34's to the CS/CY and SEV models have a unusual propensity for upper joint cracks in comparison to other makes - just my bench experience. Cheers and good luck

Best I can tell you is 300 to 750 depending on condition. The are like 15 hundred to 2000 new, so if it is in perfect shape, half that would be in the realm of possibilities. However, if it needs repadded, or anything of the sort, the value drops dramatically. The end user does not want one needing any work at all.

This is where I usually go to find out that kind of information.
