I think classical music is grossly under-appreciated.

I've been listening to a lot of it recently, and at the moment, this might just be my favorite:

Chopin's Nocturne No. 20 in C# min. (gotta love Chopin).

I suppose my preferences change quite often, but anyways.....

What is/are your favorite piece(s) of classical music?

Thanks in advance.

My favorite piece for piano and its variations would be Canon In D of Johann Pachelbel.

My favorite symphonies are Beethoven's 5th, 6th, and 9th ; Schubert's 8th and Mozart's 40th.

I'm not sure if Hungarian Dance no.5 and The Blue Danube Waltz are considered classical or romantic.

By the way, are you new to classical music ? You should really visit a proper website rather than Yahoo! Answer, but these are the best I can afford to help. Try Vivaldi, Haydn and Mozart first, then Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, Strauss, Brahms... then Tchaikovsky and Bach.

Hope I could help !

(Actually, his Nocturne is one of my favorites, too...)

I LOVE the Mendelssohn trios for violin/piano/cello... Dvorak's American Quartet...

Firebird Suite by Stravinsky is really cool... Dvorak's New World Symphony...

Any of the Beethoven romances...

OOO and Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain is a FANTASTIC one!! (esp. if you're playing it)

Mozart concertos are nice and light, also his diverdimenti...

Bach partitas are fun for solo violinists...

The Grieg symphonies are upbeat... Great to listen to around the holidays...

Overture 1812... Nutcracker Suite is a nice classic... (Danse de Mirlitons!!!!)

Carmen was fantastic...

Bachannale is kinda the same idea... A great showy piece...

Yea... So those are just my favs off the top of my head.

Hope that helps!

its between Chaconne (bwv 1004) by Bach (Bach is awesome especially on classical guitar) and

Fandanguillo by Federico Morreno Torroba (i recommend the version by Segovia)

For classical music, especially classical guitar you can never go wrong with spanish composers such as Barrios Mongore, Fernado Sor, Isaac Albeniz, Dinoso Agudo, etc.
