HOW CAN I SAVE THE MUSIC?? MEETING TONIGHT TO CUT 5TH GRADE MUSIC PROGRAM ACROSS DISTRICT!?
There is a meeting tonight to cancel 5th grade music programs such as band and orchestra! What can we do to help?? (most of us our highschool kids!) Would vh1 save the music help??

There have been cases in which the so-called frills were cut out of a school program and the reading and math scores plummeted.

I look at it this way.....the olympics always get the "fine arts" people doing their stuff!!! If it weren't for the important of music, movies would not be as effective, the music theatres could not exist, plays, simple Christmas Concerts, sporting events (football, hockey, etc). Music is the essence of living because it is rhythm....everything has rhythm or it doesn't coexist! Your heart beats in a rhythm, you walk in a rhythm, you talk in a rhythm, you even write in a rhythm. Music is full of physics (frequencies, sound waves, amps, etc), math (adding up note values in measures), language (it speaks its own!), P.E. (exersize of the brain and body), Social (around the world music), and so much more!!!! It is the essence of our being!!!

at least you had an orchestra - we never had one to begin with.



- nothing you can do is going to help - unless you do some sort of neighborhood petition or something. but it seems you may have waited to long if it is tonight.
