None of the above.

Nordiska was a Swedish piano but everything was sold and shipped to China sometime in either the late 1980's or early 1990's. The last I heard is they were being made along with a bunch of other piano names like Hallet Davis, Hardman by the Dongbei factory in China. Gibson guitar purchased the Dongbei factory a few years ago so I do not know if Nordiska is still in production. A friend of mine stopped by the Dongbei plant a few months ago and said it looked like it was shut-down.

The name Kohler & Campbell is now owned by Samick. In my opinion Samick has yet to make an acceptable piano. Remember that just because the name of a piano is owned by someone does not mean the present owner is under any obligation to build the pianos as they were built originally. Now that Steinway & Sons has saddled up with Samick, it make fear for the once greatest piano in the world.

Kawai & Yamaha are two of most recognized names of pianos coming out of Asia. For me they have a cold production line sound. They will never have the warm sound like the August Forster from Germany. One would think that the Japanese with all of their computers, NC machines, cameras and copying abilities could design a piano to match an older great Steinway however that has not happened. I just recently repaired a Kawai made in Indonesia, and all I can say is they still do not know how to properly screw two pieces of wood together.

I would jump on almost any recent Kawai. I think Yamaha, uprights and small grands are voiced way too bright.

In rapidly descending order the others would be K&C, Nordiska, and Hailun.

... but I don't think I could walk through a reasonably stocked piano store and not find a better piano.

I think Yamaha's are just mass produced even though they are well recognised, this doesnt always mean its best. Personally i have a Challen baby grand piano and i love it. the tone is so rich and makes a beautiful sound overall.
swell and well to the MAX
